Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages over 36,000km of distribution networks, more than 4,300km of transmission pipelines and 60 petajoules of storage capacity. About the opportunity
We are seeking an experienced and driven Pipeline Controller to join our National Control Centre team. This position is based in Perth CBD on operates on an even time roster of 6 shifts on / 6 shifts off, including both day and night shifts.
The Pipeline Controller is responsible for providing services designed to ensure the safe, reliable and efficient delivery of gas in line with AGIG’s objectives. These services include the control, operation and monitoring of the high-pressure natural gas pipeline systems, distribution systems, associated facilities, Hydrogen processing, SCADA systems, ancillary equipment and coordinate responses to inadvertent situations.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitoring the health of the pipeline system and the integrity of gas quality and supply
- Detect and troubleshoot operational problems or safety hazards, taking appropriate action in real-time
- Understanding the gas delivery schedule and monitoring the gas delivered at each outlet point
- Operate remote hydrogen plants for continuous network blending
- Operate remote Gas storage production facility
- Understanding the escalation and notification process for incidents and emergencies
- Maintaining timely, accurate and sufficiently detailed records of events throughout the shift
- Complete contractual scheduling tasks for the pipeline in accordance with the relevant timeframes and procedures
About you
- Mechanical or Electrical/Instrumentation trade qualification and/or Certificate III or IV in Process Plant Operations (desirable).
- Proven experience in a gas control room or similar operational field environment, with experience operating or maintaining gas transmission systems preferred
- High level of competence in statistics and correlation methods
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent team collaboration
- Working knowledge of the mechanics of fluid flow in pipelines
- Experience using SCADA or other process monitoring and control systems, along with the ability to interpret technical drawings, manuals, reports, and procedures
- Knowledge of gas contracts and gas regulations (desirable)
Remuneration
- Starting annual training salary: $139,832 (including Superannuation) plus a 19% Role Specific Allowance (expected time at this level is approximately 3 to 6 months)
- The Role Specific Allowance will increase to 37% after training has been completed and shiftwork commences
- Annual salary increase of 3.5% and two bonuses each year for the next 2 years
