About the opportunity

AGIG has an exciting new opportunity for a Senior Asset Strategy and Safety Engineer to join our Infrastructure Asset Management team.

 

Reporting to the Head of Transmission Asset Strategy, this role plays a key part in the implementation and continuous improvement of AGIG’s asset management and technical regulatory frameworks. You will contribute to the safe, reliable and compliant operation of all assets across AGIG’s gas infrastructure portfolio, including mid‑stream and emerging hydrogen assets.

 

Primarily based in the Perth CBD office, with some travel required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Asset Management – Support the development, updating and improvement of the Asset Management Plans (AMPs) and associated strategy documents to ensure safe, reliable, efficient and compliant operation for the whole lifecycle of the assets.  A key role is the management and prioritisation of Stay in Business (capital and replacement) programs that align with AMP and approved Access Arrangement.
  • Process Safety – Lead the conduct of formal safety assessment and reviews as well as facilitation of safety study workshops, as required.  Safety Critical Element (SCE) assurance requires verification of SCE and related tasks in CMMS and validation of performance standards.
  • Technical Regulation – Manage the monitoring and ongoing improvement of technical regulatory compliance performance for all gas transmission and up/mid-stream assets.
  • Subject Matter Expert – Provision of expert advice on technical safety and risk assessments. 
  • Adhere to the AGIG Zero Harm Principles, Stop Work Authority and HSE Policies

About you

  • Tertiary Engineering qualification – mechanical or chemical engineering preferable
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, negotiation and mediation skills to enable consultation with and influencing internal stakeholders, regulators and other government agencies
  • Knowledge and experience in asset management in gas transmission or similar industry
  • Experience in the application of the safety case approach in managing asset integrity, process safety and HSE in the planning, construction, operation and maintenance of gas processing and/or gas transmission systems with a broad exposure to relevant regulations, codes and standards
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships and work as a team player
