Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages distribution networks, transmission pipelines and storage capacity. AGIG recently grew to over 1300 employees. We also manage a large contractor workforce, who provide both specialist and operating and maintenance services on AGIG’s gas distribution networks.

About the opportunity
AGIG is looking for a Senior Category Manager - IT to join our Contracts and Procurement team in our Melbourne office. Reporting to the National Corporate Strategic Procurement Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping and delivering IT category strategies that support our broader procurement goals.
As part of a collaborative, high-performing team, you’ll work closely with senior IT stakeholders to develop category plans, drive strong commercial outcomes, and build effective supplier relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and execution of IT category and sub-category strategies, ensuring alignment with business objectives and stakeholder needs.
- Partner with senior IT stakeholders to drive strategic sourcing initiatives and deliver optimal commercial and operational outcomes.
- Provide oversight and guidance to Category Specialists, ensuring sourcing strategies are effective, compliant, and aligned with category direction.
- Lead complex supplier negotiations and oversee contract implementation, ensuring compliance, risk mitigation, and commercial value.
- Monitor category performance against cost and value targets, ensuring measurable benefits are achieved and sustained.
- Drive supplier relationship management and continuous improvement, supporting process optimisation and procurement best practice.
About you
- Tertiary degree in Procurement, Supple Chain, logistics, business or experience within a similar role.
- Previous experience in Information Technology category management/strategic procurement, contract negotiations and contract management.
- Strong analytical thinking, and the ability to influence and partner with stakeholders across the business.
