Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages over 40,000km of distribution networks, more than 4,300km of transmission pipelines and 60 petajoules of storage capacity. We employ over 500 team members and manage a contractor workforce of approximately 1600, who provide both specialist and operating and maintenance services on AGIG's gas distribution networks.

About the Opportunity
As part of our Business Development team, the Market Development Manager will drive strategic customer engagement and unlock mutual value between AGIG and our key national customers. This is a forward-facing, relationship-driven role focused on building trusted partnerships, identifying new market opportunities, and supporting the energy transition through innovative customer and market initiatives.
You’ll work closely with senior leaders, including the CEO and EGM, to support high-level engagement and help position AGIG as a partner of choice in a changing energy landscape.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and grow relationships with key strategic and national accounts across AGIG’s gas distribution networks.
- Develop a structured engagement program, including executive-level meetings and strategic planning.
- Identify emerging trends in customer sentiment, particularly around renewable gas and energy transition pathways.
- Contribute to the development of new markets such as renewable gas transportation and gas certification schemes.
- Represent AGIG in key industry forums and build strong links with industry associations and partners.
- Use CRM systems (e.g. SRM) to manage customer interactions and profiles effectively.
- Support divisional activities and contribute to team understanding of energy tools and market impacts.
- Drive growth in natural gas connections and support delivery of commercial targets.
- Monitor appliance market trends and implement strategic initiatives to support customer acquisition.
About You
- Proven experience (5+ years) in business development, account management, or strategic sales.
- Strong customer engagement and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build trust.
- A deep understanding of the gas or broader energy sector, including transition pathways, is highly desirable.
- Ability to identify customer needs, present tailored solutions, and drive commitment.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across a wide range of audiences.
- Self-driven and results-oriented, with the ability to thrive in dynamic environments.
- Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Flexibility to travel interstate and intrastate as required.
