Australian Gas Infrastructure Group (AGIG) owns, operates and invests in infrastructure which delivers gas to more than two million homes and businesses, and is one of the largest gas infrastructure businesses in Australia. AGIG manages distribution networks, transmission pipelines and storage capacity. AGIG recently grew to over 1300 employees. We also manage a large contractor workforce, who provide both specialist and operating and maintenance services on AGIG’s gas distribution networks.

About the Opportunity
We are seeking a Government and Industry Relations Manager to lead AGIG’s engagement with government, policymakers, industry bodies and key stakeholders. Reporting to the Group Head of Corporate Affairs within the Customer and Strategy team, this role is responsible for building awareness of AGIG’s business and strategic priorities, advocating for policy and regulatory outcomes that support AGIG’s vision, and fostering strong relationships across the energy sector to drive business success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead AGIG’s engagement with Federal and State politicians, government departments, and key influencers.
- Provide strategic advice to the Executive Team on policy developments and issues management.
- Identify and build relationships with strategic external stakeholders, including industry bodies.
- Develop and deliver key messages and advocacy materials that support AGIG’s policy and business objectives.
- Prepare high-level briefings for the CEO and Executives for engagements with ministers and senior stakeholders.
- Support broader Corporate Affairs activities including media, external communications, and policy development.
- Contribute to AGIG’s commitment to sustainability, social impact, and the transition to a renewable gas future.
About You
- 8+ years’ experience in corporate affairs, public policy, or government relations roles.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
- Proven experience engaging with Members of Parliament, ministerial offices, and senior external stakeholders.
- Demonstrated capability in developing and executing effective advocacy and government engagement strategies.
- Exceptional relationship-building, problem solving, and time management skills.
- A solid understanding of Australia’s energy policy landscape, especially around renewables, is highly desirable.
